Job Title:  Landscaping Supervisor

Reports to:  Golf Course Superintendent

 Department:  Landscape Maintenance

Position Purpose: 

Manages the clubhouse exterior landscape, golf course landscape and directs the daily work activities of the landscape maintenance staff.


Proper Operation of Equipment, Tools and Machinery: Assures proper running, maneuvering or driving of vehicles or mechanized equipment in accordance with policy, manufacturers and safety guidelines; Assures appropriate tool, equipment or machinery selection for the job being performed; Assures equipment is properly inspected, calibrated and maintained according to manuals and company procedures; Assures that work site is properly cleaned before and after use of equipment; Assures equipment is properly cleaned and stored after use.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the ornamental nursery facilities.
  • Selects, propagates and grows plant materials (except trees and larger shrubs) for ornamental use at the clubhouse and around the golf course.
  • Designs flower beds; cultivates shrubs and flowers.
  • Trims and prunes hedges and shrubbery.
  • Designs, installs and maintains low-pressure irrigation systems for landscaping.
  • Directs landscapers in routine maintenance of ornamental plantings.
  • Applies pesticides and fertilizers to ornamental plantings.
  • Understand, communicate, and manage proper safety regulations and guidelines to staff.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Associate degree or extensive experience in horticulture or a closely related field. Knowledge of the characteristics, growth habit and proper cultivation of a wide selection of flowering annual, biennial and perennial plant materials, including both herbaceous and woody plants. Knowledge of the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers, soil conditioners and pest control methods and materials. May require current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator.

Education:   n/a

Experience, certifications, licenses, etc.: Possession of a valid driver's license and California Pesticide Applicator License or Certificate

Physical/Environmental Demands: Physical strength, stamina and agility to include sitting, standing, bending, lifting min. 50 lbs; performing physical activities that require moving one's whole body, such as in reaching, stooping, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, digging, trenching and backfilling where the activities often also require considerable use of the arms and legs; ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects; ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects; ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs; able to work outside in unprotected cold, windy, damp and hot conditions for a full shift.

Work Environment: Most of time spent outdoors in unprotected/unsheltered environment.


Pay Range: $21.50-$24/hour
